Each of our lab members work together to continuously give back in a way that acknowledges the connection of our research to the “real world” – and more directly, to those voices and lived experiences that we describe in our research studies.

In 2020, our lab members worked to give back to local, national, and international communities through their time, donations, financial support in the following ways:

Our research lab organized a Book Drive to distribute book donations to Little Libraries across America.

Our goal was to get kids reading about diversity, identity, and related topics.

December 2020 Update: We collected over 100 books for our holiday book drive thanks to the generosity of many individuals! We distributed the books across the Denver area – specifically, 2-3 books to over 50 Little Libraries so far. The pictures below show some of the different locations where we have distributed donations. Thank you to everyone who is supporting the book drive with supportive messages, positive thoughts, and donations.

January 2021 Update: After distributing over 100 books that were donated during our holiday book drive, many individuals and groups contacted us to say thanks! The pictures below show some of the different preschool classes that used the books as part of their class lessons and during reading time. Thank you to everyone who is supporting the book drive with supportive messages, positive thoughts, and donations! It is making a difference in a number of ways! (faces blurred for privacy).
